- Our Story -

By day, those less familiar would find it difficult to spot E' Lupo's amidst the bustling trade of Effingham Street. By night, however, it is a culinary staple in the heart of Rotherham that has been serving the appetites of local diners for decades. The restaurant's popularity is largely based on simple principles: freshly cooked food, friendly service and word of mouth recommendations. These - coupled with no short measure of hard work over the years, have served to establish a loyal customer base which has been central to the venue's longevity.

Founders Vito and Sally Miccoli first opened their doors in 1988, offering diners a taste of Southern Italy. The couple enjoyed 17 years at the helm and attribute their success to treating customers like family. As a result, they have developed many friendships and a wealth of cherished memories. “We have witnessed the children ofmany of our regulars grow into adults. It has been a great privilege.”

In 2005, Vito and Sally handed down the restaurant to their youngest son, Stefano, and his lifelong friend and business partner, Nino Falsone. Sally can still be found working alongside a trio of talent; Head Chef of 16 years, Wayne Barnett, Pizza Chef, David Bemrose and newest addition, Scuola Italiano trained Livio Maccio.

Still faithful to the founders’ firm values, the restaurant is now firmly ranked among the top eateries that Rotherham has to offer and was recently named “best Italian Restaurant in Rotherham” by Three Best Rated.

The latest chapter for E’ Lupo’s started when singing waiter of 16 years, David Lister and his wife, Laura took over the reins from Stefano and Nino, assisted by full-time Restaurant Manager, Luke Othen. Between them the pair have clocked up almost 30 years’ serving diners on Effingham Street.

The sense behind the latest move is clear, says Nino: “David joined us as a teenager and we’ve loved watching him grow into the man he’s become. We think of him as family, so it makes complete sense for him to take up the mantle. I can’t think of anyone more fitting to continue our legacy.”

David insists: “We’re both excited and privileged to continue what Vito and Sally started all those years ago. One thing is for certain, we won’t be changing what we’re about.  We’ll maintain their high standards so that people can continue to enjoy what we have to offer here at E’ Lupo’s for another 30 years.”

“Food and entertainment with excellent hospitality from all the staff. Highly recommended..."
